What do you see in the future of space exploration, aeronautics, robotics or technology? Do you want to be part of the events leading up to the final launch of the Space Shuttle? NASA’s Office of Education is looking for innovative high school and college students who share a common interest in NASA’s mission and STEM fields of study. NASA invites you to participate in its STS-135 Pre-Launch Education Un-Conference, and to witness the final launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis, currently targeted to launch on July 8, 2011 at 11:40 a.m.
We are seeking high school and college students who are innovative dreamers to participate in Office of Education’s first Un-Conference. The Un-Conference’s topics will be dictated by its participants, based on their areas of interest. Based on the feedback that Office of Education receives from registrants about what most excites and interests them, we will create three to four interactive rooms NASA STS-135 Pre-Launch Education “Un-Conference” where you drive the discussion. NASA’s experts will be on hand to facilitate and guide the discussion, but you decide the subject matter, and help drive the conversation.
Interested in aeronautics, space exploration, robotics or new technologies? The Un-Conference is for you! You’ll have the chance to interact with NASA engineers and technicians who work in these areas. You can ask questions, learn about new technologies, and network with other students and NASA specialists already working in the area that interests you. We’ll have industry experts in attendance as well, who will spread themselves among the rooms listening in and gathering impressions and information about what’s on YOUR mind. We’ll have a NASA astronaut on hand to give an overview of mission STS-135 during lunch, and the industry experts will sit on a reaction panel to close out the day, offering you their immediate reactions to the conversations and networking that went on during the day.
The Un-Conference is limited to 100 participants, so RSVP by June 30 to ensure your spot!
NOTE: Un-Conference Attendees are responsible for all transportation costs to/from and within Florida, lodging, food and any incidental or other cost associated with participating in the Un-Conference. NASA regrets that it is unable to provide financial assistance to participants wishing to attend the Un-Conference.
