NASA Space Grant ESCAPE to Alaska Summer Camp – Application Deadline June 4, 2011

The Alaska Space Grant Program in partnership with NASA invites students and teachers to a summer camp opportunity at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. ASGP/NASA will provide training and experiences for students and teachers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.

The camp is a one-week professional development program for educators of grades 7-12 and a one-week academic summer program for students entering grades 8-12 in the fall.

Attendees have the opportunity to choose from two modules – “FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Training” and “Energy in Alaska.” Camp sessions take place in mid-June. Applications are due June 4, 2011.

Apply Now for the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp at Oregon State University – Deadline April 16, 2010

Oregon State University is taking applications for 54 Oregon middle school students to attend the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp this summer at OSU. Application deadline is Friday, April 16. The application includes a student essay and recommendations from science and math teachers.

The Oregon State University Department of 4-H Youth Development is pleased to be selected for a fourth year of funding in 2010 for the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Foundation Summer Science Camp. The program provides full scholarships for Oregon middle school (entering grades 6- 8 ) students to attend a Summer Science Camp on the OSU campus in Corvallis, Oregon. Camp this year will be held August 2nd through the 13th.

Students are invited to apply for this two-week residential camp, to be held in August. Selection will be based on academic commitment (not necessarily performance) teacher recommendations and a student essay. We particularly hope to receive applications from students who belong to populations who are traditionally underserved and underrepresented in the fields of science and math and students from rural areas.

Apply Now For ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp at Oregon State University – Deadline April 15

48 Oregon middle school students will be selected to attend the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp this summer at Oregon State University campus. The application includes a student essay and recommendations from Science and Math teachers and is due Wednesday, April 15.

The two-week residential camp, Aug. 4-15, offers students entering grades six, seven and eight innovative ways to enhance their knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Leadership and citizenship are main themes, and students are encouraged to stay in school.

The full cost of the camp’s education program, field trips, food and lodging is covered by a grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation and The Bernard Harris Foundation.

Campamento Internacional de Verano 4-H 2008

Este año el Programa 4-H de Oregon State University Extension Service está ofreciendo tres campamentos de verano en el Oregon 4-H Conference & Education Center, 5390 4-H Road, NW, Salem, OR 97304; dichos campamentos están enfocados en estudiantes latinos de 3º al 12º grado. El Campamento #1 tiene cupo limitado para 75 estudiantes de primaria en grados 3º al 5º del 16 al 19 de agosto. El Campamento #2 tiene un cupo limitado para 100 estudiantes de secundaria en grados 6º al 8º del 10 al 14 de agosto. El Campamento #3 tiene cupo limitado para 75 estudiantes de preparatoria en grados 9º al 12º del 11 al 14 de julio

El Campamento Internacional de Verano 2007 de 4 días y 24 horas al día, es parte de un gran esfuerzo que está haciendo el programa 4-H en el estado de Oregon para involucrar jóvenes latinos del 3º al 12º grado en actividades educativas que les permitan mejorar sus habilidades académicas, a desarrollar habilidades de liderazgo e involucrarlos en actividades físicas, sanas y divertidas; las cuales les ayudarán a ser ciudadanos importantes, respetuosos, responsables y contribuyentes de comunidad.

Launch Into Technology With NASA – Deadline May 23, 2008

Join NASA and the Girl Scouts for an exciting summer residential program June 22-28, 2008, at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif.

Registration is open to girls entering grades 9-12. Participants choose to attend the Aeronautics Institute, Robotics Institute or Astrobiology Institute. They then explore their chosen topic with other high school girls and get a taste of how things are done the NASA way. Applications are due May 23, 2008. Space is limited. Early registration is encouraged.

Adults are needed to share the excitement of technology, engineering and science with girls. Volunteer and paid staff positions are available. Opportunities include advisor, health supervisor, chaperones and drivers. Training dates are June 19-21, 2008.

Openings are available in all summer OSU Saturday Academy classes and camps. Design your own engineering project! Experiment with science in research labs! Explore the coastline and use real research techniques! Create a sculpture for DaVinci Days! Adventure in to the world of nanotechnology! Chart your future as an engineer! Discover all of these things and more with Saturday Academy this summer. Classes are for 5th – 12th grade students and range from 2 day workshops to full week camps, all held on the OSU campus.

Saturday Academy is a non-profit cooperative hosted by the College of Engineering and College of Science at Oregon State University, and working with local businesses and professionals. Fees are charged for classes, but tuition assistance is available. Students from Albany and Mill City schools pay half the regular fees due to school district support and grant funds.

2008 Summer Science Adventures Camps – Eugene Oregon

Registration for the Science Factory Children’s Museum and Planetarium Summer Camps will begin soon. This year, the Science Factory is offering more camps than ever, 56 expereiences for children ages 4-14!

On Saturday April 19, there will be a Summer Camp Preview and Pre-registration Day from 10am-4pm at the Science Factory. You and your child can find out firsthand about all the camps and get a jump on registration.

Science Adventure Camps offer children the chance to develop hands-on learning, creative problem solving and discovery in a stimulating and fun environment. The Science Factory location in beautiful Alton Baker Park provides a living laboratory for exploration and the chance to combine indoor and outdoor activities.

The 2007 Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp Blog

The Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp was a huge success this year, enabling 60 middle school students the opportunity to attend this summer science camp free of charge!  The scholarships were funded by an $80,000 grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation and the Harris Foundation. The camp was a collaboration between a number of OSU groups including the OSU Extension Service 4-H Youth Development program, OSU Science and Math Investigative Learning Experiences (SMILE) program, the science and math departments, and the College of Education.
